Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder in which the individual obsessively
seeks to lose weight by controlling what they eat, resulting in a reduction in
the consumption of foods, and an excessive concern about nutrition in order to
establish which foods are fattening and which are not. The objective is to lose weight as quickly as possible, as the individual
has a distorted perception of their body image. This also leads to the
individual restricting what they eat, performing excessive physical exercise
and taking laxatives and diuretics.
